When everything going wireless, then why not power transmission?? Electronic engineering has now developed a way to transmit power without using traditional wire system. Wireless power or wireless energy transmission is the transmission of electrical energy from a Power Source to an Electrical load without man-made Conductors. Wireless transmission is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible.

One of the major issue in power system is the losses occurs during the transmission and distribution of electrical power. As the demand increases day by day, the power generation increases and the power loss is also increased. The major amount of power loss occurs during transmission and distribution.

Wireless power transmission (WPT) is reliable, efficient, fast and low maintenance. The advance phase of this power transmission is that it can be use for both short range and long range. The losses which was being occurred in transmission line of wired form got reduced by this technique.

Nikola Tesla was the first man on planet earth who circulated the term “Wireless power transmission” in late 1890’s. He wished to supply free energy to every human being on earth. No one can ever forget his proposal of death-ray during World War 2, but fortunately or unfortunately Einstein’s proposal of “Atomic Bomb” prevailed. Later on when Mr. JP Morgan came to know about Tesla’s plan to supply free energy, he stopped the funding thereby giving instruction to demolish Wardenclyffe Tower (also known as Tesla Tower). And it’s just a matter of fact that JP Morgan played a key role in popularising Nikola Tesla as a “Mad Scientist”. So, one thing for sure, if wireless power transmission or wireless energy transfer is accomplished to the fullest in near future, we will still have to pay for energy  (maybe less) but it won’t be free ever.
