All About Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments

Canon Doyle, Crime punishments, absolving, condemning

Release due on 14th September 2014

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments will be released for PC (Microsoft Windows), Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Developed by Frogwares “Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments” is based on Russian Novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky named “Crime and Punishments”. This game showcases the combination of BBC’s Sherlock Holmes television series and original stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

A well-known detective Mr. Sherlock Holmes is having an outing at London in 19th century where he faces some twisted cases. Unlike in the previous versions, here you are not a mere spectator; “Crimes & Punishments” gives you a chance to become a true Sherlock Holmes and lead your investigation in your own way. Here each case written in the tradition of Sir Conan Doyle’s novel where murders, disappearances and thefts takes place more often.

The most interesting part of “Crimes & Punishments” is that it is either first person or third person or both. You can switch between two looks whenever you want. 65% of the game is about exploring the crime scene, exploring the clues and deducting the conclusions. Based on the evidences, Sherlock Holmes can make a moral choice of either absolving a person or condemning a criminal.

Frogwares have tried to make “Crimes & Punishment” the most advance detective game ever. “Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments” will feature a detective at least 10 times more advance than Bruce Wayne in Arkham City or in Arkham Origins. Apart from each murder, everything in this game is dynamic. This is somewhat a racing game without a map/ without pre-defined short-cuts. This is a modern Sherlock Holmes similar to BBC’s television series. Sherlock Holmes is equipped with “deduction board”, ability to link pieces of information together and reconstructing the course of events. There could be more than 7 distinct endings with 3 to 5 possible solutions for each case.

Similar to what we saw in the Sherlock Holmes’ movies starring Robert Downey Jr, in this game Sherlock Holmes can draw conclusions for a person from his belongings, out-fits, gestures, etc.

There is no Multiplayer mode in this game; just eight cases to solve in the Single-player mode. But those eight cases far more adventurous from what you would’ve expected. It is the first time ever that any game in the “Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” series will run on Epic’s Unreal Engine 3. Special attention has been given in designing the stages with finely detailed dynamic lighting and shadows. As any other modern games, “Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments” will feature attractive graphics. Game will be published by “Focus Home Interactive”.
