All About BMW 7 series
BMW has just uncovered the 2015 BMW 7-series Individual Final Edition with an impressive appearance and wiser use of technology to compete with its potential rivals that include Audi 8 which is available with 740Ld-rivaling turbo-diesel, Porsche Panamera, Maserati, Quattroporte and Mercedes S-class. It is designed particularly for the French market and is all set for its debut at the Paris Motor Show 2014 in the following month. The series is codenamed as G11 and G12, the G11 stands for the standard-wheelbase 7-series while the G12 denotes the LWB effort.
The car has a distinct kind of black described as Citrine Black with a tint of brown color well complemented with it, despite any other color can also be chosen as an alternative. In other places, BMW Individual Final edition exhibits black chrome surrounds with 19-inch wheels. It is diesel powered with six, eight or twelve cylinders, an all wheel-drive and an extended wheelbase form.
The interior of the car is furnished with leather with attractive Platinum or Cohiba Brown with Opal white or Black piping. It offers an elegant driving dynamics and all new and improved version of iDrive infotainment system. The navigation system is also adjusted with 3D elements and improved graphics, in addition to all this; a voice recognition system is incorporated that makes it easier for the driver to send email while driving without any inconvenience. The driver can also make change according to his or her comfort that comprises accelerator response, engine response, power steering characteristics, stability control thresholds, and transmission & damper settings. The damping system with shock absorbers is also one of its kinds that are controlled electronically for the first time.
Another pleasing attribute to enhance the cabin technology is that of the remote services that it offers, which makes it easier for the smartphone users to start their car, turn on the A/C or locate the vehicle in crowded areas remotely. BMW apps provide the accessibility to facebook, twitter, web radio services, google local search, guides and directories to its passengers.
Eco Pro is a feature that ensures maximum efficiency; reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent. Eco Pro also offers a coasting mode that decouples the engine when coasting at speeds between 30-100 mph.
The styling of the exterior does not differ much from its previous models. The headlight design was tweaked, with optional adaptive LED units. The part that surrounds the instruments and dials is recreated and now it includes new fog lamps and chrome strips in the front. The back seat is considerably large and has a lot of space, especially in extended wheelbase “L” form.
The 7-Series will have three gas-burning engines and a turbodiesel mill. Each drivetrain is formally given a special model name.The “entry-level” 740i has a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six with 315 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. The mid-grade 750i characterize a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 with 445 ponies and 480 lb-ft. The range-topping 760Li boasts a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 that pumps out 535 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque.
The use of carbon fiber construction for some elements helps to keep the weight of the 7-series down. Over the current model which weighs 4,400, 7-series weight savings could total between 300 and 400 pounds. This new technology improves the overall experience including economy, performance and handling.
ActiveHybrid 7 offered only with a long wheelbase is the gas electric version based on the 740Li, a turbocharger 3.0-liter inline-six. The system output is 349 horsepower and 367 lb-ft torque. It provides an efficient fuel economy while the acceleration is not that much affected. Both the gas and electric engines can operate independently as well as coherently.
